Tse-Sung Wu

Tse-Sung has a longstanding interest in helping corporations reduce their ecological footprint by improving decision making and promoting innovation to minimize or eliminate environmental impact. He created and staffed a green chemistry and green biopharma practice at Genentech, one of the founders of biotechnology.  The program includes promoting the use of less hazardous materials in the conduct of biomedical research as well as the implementation of an industry-wide eco-footprint metric applied to biopharmaceutical manufacture. Currently, Tse-Sung leads drug development teams at Nektar Therapeutics, a biotech company that focuses on immunologic pathways to meet unmet medical needs.

Tse-Sung volunteered with a small eco-lodge in Southeast Asia, helping it receive the green tourism certification GreenGlobe21, making it the second establishment to do so in Laos.

He also worked briefly with the Environmental Strategies and Technologies group at Apple, and was Co-Director of the Consortium for Green Design and Manufacturing at UC Berkeley. Tse-Sung earned his PhD in Engineering and Public Policy and Civil and Environmental Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley.
