Dominic Stucker

Dominic is an action-oriented collaborator who convenes diverse action teams to address complex sustainability challenges. He is facile with group processes and able to thrive within different cultures and sectors. Dominic cares deeply about the Earth, the community of life, future generations, and envisions a world that is just, sustainable, and peaceful. Dominic is Managing Partner at the Collective Leadership Institute with offices in Germany and South Africa. He facilitates high quality, multi-sector dialogue and collaboration trainings for individuals and teams of sustainability leaders and development practitioners. He also coaches and accompanies multi-stakeholder teams in co-designing and collectively leading complex change processes for systems transformations, including:

Dominic earned his MA in Environmental Security and Governance from the UN-mandated University for Peace in Costa Rica, MA in Teaching from Brown University, and BA in Comparative Literature (English, French, and German) from Stanford University. He lives with his wife and teenage twin boys in Monterey, Massachusetts, USA.

     Dominic co-edited a 20 case study volume for Earthscan / Routledge in  2014 on  Adaptation to Climate Change through Water Resources Management: Capacity, Equity and Sustainability. The project was funded by  Brown International Advanced Research Institute.
     Dominic published a featured article with colleagues Jusipbek Kazbekov, Murat Yakubov, and Kai Wegerich of the  International Water Management Institute entitled  Climate Change in a Small Transboundary Tributary of the Syr Darya Calls for Effective Cooperation and Adaptation in the Mountain Research and Development Journal, Vol 32, No 3, September 2012.
      With friend and colleague Lisa Jokivirta, Dominic wrote an article entitled  We’re in This Together: Five reasons why young people are needed to solve the climate crisis  for Monday Developments Magazine, August 2011 issue.
      Dominic published a chapter entitled  Environmental Injustices, Unsustainable Livelihoods, and Conflict: Natural Capital Inaccessibility and Loss among Rural Households in Tajikistan in  Environmental Justice and Sustainability in the Former Soviet Union (MIT Press, 2009), edited by Julian Agyeman and Yelena Ogneva-Himmelberger.

     Youth Voices at the Nature Olympics filmed at the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Jeju, South Korea by Mohammad Masum and the IUCN Media Team, September 2012. In his previous roles as Steering Committee member of the IUCN Commission on Education and Communication and Convener of the IUCN Task Force on Intergenerational Partnership for Sustainability, Dominic played a central role in organizing youth integration and contributions leading up to and during the Congress.
     Earth Charter Youth Leadership Team in Ahmedabad, India, produced by Gabriella Monteiro, November 2007. Then International Youth Coordinator, Dominic convened Earth Charter International’s first Youth Leadership Team at this International Conference on Environment Education. Gabi was one of the dozen members, one of two representatives from Latin America and the Caribbean.
